ScreenPlay v.10 for Orthodontic Practices

ScreenPlay v.10, developed by Solutions by Design in Fresno, CA, is a game-changer for orthodontists looking to improve their communication strategies and patient engagement.

One of the biggest challenges in orthodontics is ensuring patients and their families understand their treatment options. ScreenPlay v.10 addresses this by offering a visually engaging platform that simplifies complex orthodontic concepts. The software features high-quality animations, 3D visuals, and interactive presentations that break down treatment plans in a way that patients can easily comprehend. When patients understand their treatment, they are more likely to commit to it and follow through with compliance.

Time is valuable in any orthodontic practice, and ScreenPlay v.10 helps streamline consultations by providing ready-to-use presentations that guide patients through their treatment journey. Instead of lengthy verbal explanations that might leave patients confused, orthodontists can use the ScreenPlay v.10 software to present clear, concise, and visually appealing demonstrations of treatment options, expected results, and procedural steps. This not only saves time but also fosters a better patient-practitioner relationship.

One of the primary concerns for orthodontists is converting consultations into active treatment plans. ScreenPlay v.10 enhances case acceptance by eliminating uncertainty and providing patients with compelling visual evidence of how orthodontic treatment can benefit them. When patients can see expected outcomes through before-and-after simulations, they are more likely to proceed with treatment.

Launching March 2025 ScreenPlay v.10 Features:

  • Drawing Utility - ScreenPlay allows the user to draw diagrams and sketches on any animation or imported patient record with the mouse. These sketches can be saved and imported into the PMS as a patient document. They can also be included in the email of your case presentation.
  • Patient Education Video Library - Educate patients at the exam, chair-side, or as part of the patient Email presentation. Each of the 38 Full Length Videos and 33 Video Clips range from 20 seconds to 8 minutes in length. Our Education Videos are professionally produced and regarded as some of the best in the business.
  • Clinical Findings Report - Once you have demonstrated the problem and treatment options and have imported the patient’s records you can compile a clinical findings report and print each on demand or email home as part of the patient presentation.
  • Protocol Management Center - With Protocols, you can create a favorite set of animations. It may be just a single animation like an RPE, or an entire string of animations and videos. This provides simple access for individual appliances or problems.
  • Digital Forms - ScreenPlay also includes a series of administrative as well as clinical forms for use in the consultation or throughout treatment as needed.

A well-informed patient is a satisfied patient. When patients feel confident about their treatment plan, they are more likely to follow through with appointments, wear their aligners or retainers as instructed, and comply with care guidelines. ScreenPlay v.10 fosters a higher level of trust between orthodontists and their patients, leading to improved overall satisfaction and positive reviews for the practice.

For orthodontic practices looking to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive market, ScreenPlay v.10 from Solutions by Design is an invaluable tool. Its ability to enhance patient education, streamline consultations, and boost case acceptance rates makes it a must-have for modern orthodontic clinics. By investing in ScreenPlay v.10, orthodontists can provide a superior patient experience, improve treatment adherence, and ultimately grow their practice.

3 Ways to Increase Facebook Engagement

Solutions By Design

Social media has become an important tool for orthodontists to connect with patients, bring valuable updates to their patients, give tips and showcase their incredible work. Facebook for orthodontic practices is becoming small community hubs, sharing not only orthodontic related content but content outside the office walls, from community outreaches, fundraisers and community updates.

Social media is a necessity in today's digital age, especially for businesses. More than 40% of digital consumers use social networks to research new brands or products. Allowing your business to be discoverable on social media by crafting a social media strategy is important for business growth.

Facebook is a great tool for orthodontic practices to reach potential patients and new audiences. Here are 3 ways to increase Facebook engagement for orthodontists.

1. Go Live

Facebook Live is a great way to get your audience engaged and keep their attention. Facebook changed their algorithm in 2018 to focus on meaningful interactions. “the public content you see more will be held to the same standard -- it should encourage meaningful interactions between people,” said Mark Zuckerberg. According to Facebook “Page posts that generate conversation between people will show higher in News Feed. For example, live videos often lead to discussion among viewers on Facebook – in fact, live videos on average get six times as many interactions as regular videos.”

The Facebook Live video view count climbed to 2 billion viewers last year and it is continuing to grow.

2. Contests

One way to grow your social media following and engage organically is through contest through social media. Contests a great way to create engagement on social media, especially if your social media is stagnant or has fallen behind. Contests are a great opportunity to build a following in your community, especially if you are just starting out. Social media contest allows your patients and community (past or future patients) to get involved and participate.

Depending on the prize, how someone will enter and determine eligibility will be up to each practice, the actions should be simple and clear. You want to make the process of entering your contest as clear and simple as possible.

For example, TLS Orthodontics designed a giveaway with the goal of increasing their Page Likes on Facebook. The instructions were clear, like the post, share the post and tag 2 people on the contest. Tagging people in the post encourages additional entries from those who were tagged and expose your practice to someone new. Read our blog on “4 Social Media Contest Ideas for Orthodontists,” for some inspiration.

3. Video

Video is a big way to get your audience engaged on Facebook. Upload your videos onto Facebook: Videos uploaded onto Facebook have, on average, 110 percent higher engagement rate and 478 percent higher share rate than YouTube links.

Video is a perfect way to engage your followers through announcing events, contest winners, creating a demonstration or simply showcasing some smiles. Jernigan Orthodontics uses Facebook video to show a behind the scenes of their office, showcasing their fun team.

Bunn Orthodontic Group has used video in the past to announce contest winners, which has been effective in getting comments, shares and reactions, all leading to Facebook to rank them higher, among news feeds.

Social media is integrated into our daily lives and rapidly evolving. 69% of U.S. adults use at least one social media site. The chances that your target audience and ideal customer is on at least one social media platform is highly likely. Download selfie signs and a social media calendar of fun holidays for free here. 2. Encourage Patients to Share Photos - What is better than having patients leave raving reviews and letting us know how amazing their appointment went? Sharing photos of their smiles and the work the orthodontic team has created. Encouraging patients to share selfies or smile photos as contest entries is a great way to receive content you can share and be shared among your patient's friends and followers.

3. Action Contests - Action contest can have participants do something to enter. In this example, Beim Orthodontics provided a small 8 x 10 cutout of Dr. Beim. 4. Holiday Themed Contests - Creating a contest around a holiday or theme can be the perfect opportunity to engage your audience and grow your following. This can range from Halloween to Christmas to national events such as the Olympics and the Super Bowl. There is always a holiday or “national something day” the internet is always celebrating.

Hinesly Orthodontics surrounded their holiday season with “elf on the shelf” photos around the office while encouraging their followers to submit photos of their “elf on the shelf.” This created a strong engagement on Facebook. Another example is another practice that made the Super Bowl a fun game before it had begun. Contest participants had to submit their game predictions through Facebook, and the winner would win the grand prize. This can go for other events such as award shows and major sports such as the World Series.

5 Twitter Marketing Tips for Orthodontists

twitter marketing tips for orthodontists

Did you know there are 500 million tweets sent out every day? That’s 5,787 tweets being sent out every second! According to Twitter in 2018, 326 million people were using Twitter daily. That number continues to grow every day. That is a lot of potential engagement for a platform that mostly goes inactive for most business owners, specifically Orthodontist.

Several accounts are set up for practices but rarely are updated or remain inactive. It can be a challenge for orthodontic offices to use this social media platform, especially if they do not know what to publish in the first place. Assuming most orthodontic practices are active on Facebook or Instagram, they may ask themselves, do I post the same thing from Facebook? How do I even share something on Twitter? Will anyone even see it?

Before you follow these tips, be sure your Twitter account has all the appropriate links, bio description, and images, all match your website and other social media profiles. Here are 5 Twitter marketing tips for an orthodontist to utilize on Twitter, expand their audience reach, build a following and engage with potential customers.

1. Tag / Engage with Accounts:

Social media is meant to be social. Engaging with other accounts will help you build a following and provide value. By tagging other accounts (such as the local chamber of commerce, a school that visited your office or brands) you are starting a conversation online. This also helps with Twitter algorithms, which determine how your tweets get seen by followers.

For example Kelly Orthodontics, in Saint Charles, Illinois, tweeted this fantastic photo of a patient with an American Doll, comforting her as she received braces. Kelly Orthodontics tagged American Girl Doll and their tweet was seen by 323 non-followers.

2. Utilize a Branded Hashtag (#)

A hashtag is a word or phrase comprised of letters, numbers or an emoji, preceded by the hashtag symbol (#). This clickable word the main feature for social media platforms, especially on Twitter. You can see who posts content using that same hashtag.

For example, if I wanted to find what Twitter users are currently saying about braces, I would simply type in #braces and I would see the latest and top post of twitter users talking about braces. Using a branded hashtag for your practice, allows you to see what other people are posting.

Wentz Orthodontics uses the hashtag #WentzOrthoodontics in every tweet they sent out and encourage others to use that same hashtag across Twitter and Instagram. By clicking on that tweet, Wentz Orthodontics can discover other users who have used the hashtag and tagged their photos or comments.

3. Follow People in Your Community

Growing a following on Twitter can be a challenge, especially if you are choosing to do so organically. The most simple and effective way to gain twitter followers is to compile a list of businesses, organizations, and people in your community who are [active] on twitter. By following them, it is most likely they will follow back, thus creating a digital community online that is truly a representation of your hometown (or home state).

One easy way to discover twitter accounts within your community is to search for your local city government or local news stations on Twitter. They will most likely be following other businesses and organizations already.

4. RT Relevant Information

Twitter is an engaging platform that has the ability to spread information so fast, it is often the place where news breaks. With millions of tweets being sent out every day, there is a great wealth of content being shared and spread throughout twitter. As an orthodontist, spreading relevant information on teeth and overall health tips can be easy following different people within the industry. A Retweet can help connect and engage with others in your industry and gain a following.

5. Cross-Promote Correctly

Cross-posting is posting the same content across multiple social networks, often from one place. For example, posting an image from Facebook and automatically posting on Twitter. Which looks like this:
twitter marketing tips for orthodontists

The negative perceptions can be laziness, losing credibility and bad for branding, which can ultimately lead to a decline in engagement and social media growth. For orthodontists and staff members, it might be the easiest way to “be active on social media.” However, there is a difference between cross-posting and cross-promoting.

Cross promoting allows you to tailor your social media content/message to each platform. This includes specific information, image sizes, using hashtags and tagging people such as using the @ symbol. This will allow your content to stand out on Twitter and be Retweeted by others. Each message should be tailored to each platform to ultimately accomplish your goals on Twitter.
