Are You Creating Engaging Content?

Social media engagement is an important metric to consider when building your brand. While it is important to increase the size of your audience, it is just as (if not more) important to increase your engagement. When you engage with your audience on social media you can turn some of your followers from fans into clients. The time you devote to building relationships through social media engagement can lead to an increase in client loyalty and higher positive reviews. Social media engagement is not just about looking popular…it’s about making meaningful connections with current and future clients, which will boost your brand online.

First off…what is social media engagement?

Social media engagement is an umbrella term for actions that reflect and measure how much your audience interacts with your content.Social media engagement can include likes, comments, and shares, but varies by platform.”

Activity and engagement are crucial when trying to build a positive brand experience. Social media engagement is measured by a range of metrics that could include the following:

  • Shares
  • Comments
  • Likes
  • Follows
  • Mentions
  • Click-throughs

When potential clients engage with your posts, you’re presented with an opportunity to get to know those clients and build relationships with them. By helping your clients when they’re in need, offers a one-of-a-kind customer experience that they may not get from your competitors.

OK…great. But how can you increase your engagement?

1. Share Engaging Content - Creating unique and relevant social media content is great for attracting new followers and it also keeps existing followers engaged. When creating content for your social media channels, follow the 80/20 rule where 80% of your social media posts either educate, entertain,or help followers solve a problem, while the remaining 20% directly promotes your business. This will help you focus on creating quality content your clients like. Keep in mind…if you’re just talking about how great your brand is, or what you have for sale, it’s going to be harder for your clients to connect and stay engaged.

2. Run Social Media Contests - Hosting a social media contest or giveaway will get people talking and interacting! Social media contests should be designed to entice your audience with a prize and push them to engage with your content by following, liking, sharing, or commenting.

3. Ask questions - When you post questions as content, you can get your audience to engage more with your business. Asking questions is one of the best social media engagement strategies for getting people to participate. Try encouraging your audience to post photos of your products or results from your services. Invite them to tag your business in the picture. When you find their posts, ask permission to post them on your social profile, and once granted, schedule the content to post on your page. User-generated content is a great way to improve social media engagement, which can lead to word-of-mouth recommendations.

That said…social media is a full time Job.

To make Social Media work for you, it’s not enough to create engagement…but to stay engaged.

If your Social Media engagement is slipping, it might have something to do with your post frequency. Potential clients use social media at all different times of the day. Some are online throughout the day, while others may only check it in the early morning or evening. If you’re business is randomly publishing a few posts each day, there’s a good chance some of your audience will miss them. By the time consumers check their feed, your content could be buried.

Did you know…

If you need help or ideas on how to create more engagement with your social media posts, contact Solutions by Design. Our team has the experience, along with proper knowledge and planning to assess the effectiveness and the impact of your Social Media Marketing.

Volga German Display

The local chapter of the Volga German Society has selected SBD to develop an interactive display to tell their story of the exodus of millions of Germans from Russia to the Central California area. Visitors to the Fresno Museum will able to trace the journey and settlement of millions as they overcame hardships and created a new life for themselves her in the Fresno area.  The Volga River was a rich region of Russia and home to many German communities until they were forced to uproot themselves leaving their homes, businesses and churches as Joseph Stalin had other ideas for these individuals. It was either "get out" of straight to Siberia and Kazazian via rail freight cars. Many escaped their homeland but many died en route due to the harsh conditions imposed my the dictator Stalin.

Our New Website

Solutions By Design has launched a new website!

Our own work is always put on the back burner as we are always so busy. We finally had to stop and put it in the schedule and get it done.

Trying to figure out how to best present our service offering considering the wide variety of services that we offer in so many varied markets made this quite a challenge.

We decided to tackle this in the form of services and not markets and then to focus on case studies for each.  We felt this would provide our visitors the best perspective of who we are and what we do. We hope you agree.

Visit our new website at www.solutionsbydesign.com

It all began with designers 35 years ago when Solutions by Design provided design services to agricultural clients to help market their packaged products such as apples, cherries and oranges. Located in the largest agricultural county in the country, this was our beginning.

We produced some of the most beautiful commodity and consumer programs in the industry. Branding, collateral programs and packaging, soon expanded into the digital world and here we are today.

Take a look at the foundational skills that allow us to create amazing digital communication experiences.

Fresno County Athletic Hall of Fame Truss Installation

The Fresno County Athletic Hall of Fame located at the SaveMart Center on the Fresno State Campus is in full swing.  We are entering the next phase of development and the centerpiece display is our 24’ suspended truss which hangs in the center of the new Hall of Fame Exhibit. Our design called for 19 monitors which creates a 45’ continual canvas for digital display and messaging. We initially installed 8 monitors in the first phase and have now installed the remaining 11 to complete the ring. We can now steam graphics continually like you may have seen at pro sports venues around the country.

Our work process is rooted in thoughtful design and unique and proven artistic sensibility. We create experiences, not just kiosks and fancy digital walls. Our focus is in creating excitement and in providing a memorable and engaging experience for our client’s guests and customers. It starts with defining the objectives and harnessing a dream then making that dream a reality. That is what we do, from A to Z and we feel we do it better than anyone else.

The Fresno County Athletic Hall of Fame Project is a great example of our capabilities. From environmental concept to design marketing and technology, Solutions By Design is a world-class resource to make any experience exceptional.

Bereavement Software Application in Development

We are just about ready to launch a new software application called Hospice Bereavement Solutions. This is an integrated application designed specifically for Hospice organizations to reduce paperwork and fulfill the governmental requirements for the distribution of documentation for the survivors of patients that have passed.

Hospice Bereavement Solutions was the brainchild of one of our new clients, Ripsime. Ripsime came to us with a business idea but didn’t know how to pull it off. After meeting with her and discussing how she wanted this software product to function, we created her Discovery Document and started on the design.

Once Ripsime approved the look and functionality, we moved straight into programming. Our team of in-house programmers is making Ripsime’s dream a reality. And before we know it, she will be able to sell her software product to Hospices all over the country!

If you have an idea for a software application but don't know where to begin...give us a call at 800-888-4084, we are here to help bring your ideas to  fruition.

3 Ways to Increase Facebook Engagement

Solutions By Design

Social media has become an important tool for orthodontists to connect with patients, bring valuable updates to their patients, give tips and showcase their incredible work. Facebook for orthodontic practices is becoming small community hubs, sharing not only orthodontic related content but content outside the office walls, from community outreaches, fundraisers and community updates.

Social media is a necessity in today's digital age, especially for businesses. More than 40% of digital consumers use social networks to research new brands or products. Allowing your business to be discoverable on social media by crafting a social media strategy is important for business growth.

Facebook is a great tool for orthodontic practices to reach potential patients and new audiences. Here are 3 ways to increase Facebook engagement for orthodontists.

1. Go Live

Facebook Live is a great way to get your audience engaged and keep their attention. Facebook changed their algorithm in 2018 to focus on meaningful interactions. “the public content you see more will be held to the same standard -- it should encourage meaningful interactions between people,” said Mark Zuckerberg. According to Facebook “Page posts that generate conversation between people will show higher in News Feed. For example, live videos often lead to discussion among viewers on Facebook – in fact, live videos on average get six times as many interactions as regular videos.”

The Facebook Live video view count climbed to 2 billion viewers last year and it is continuing to grow.

2. Contests

One way to grow your social media following and engage organically is through contest through social media. Contests a great way to create engagement on social media, especially if your social media is stagnant or has fallen behind. Contests are a great opportunity to build a following in your community, especially if you are just starting out. Social media contest allows your patients and community (past or future patients) to get involved and participate.

Depending on the prize, how someone will enter and determine eligibility will be up to each practice, the actions should be simple and clear. You want to make the process of entering your contest as clear and simple as possible.

For example, TLS Orthodontics designed a giveaway with the goal of increasing their Page Likes on Facebook. The instructions were clear, like the post, share the post and tag 2 people on the contest. Tagging people in the post encourages additional entries from those who were tagged and expose your practice to someone new. Read our blog on “4 Social Media Contest Ideas for Orthodontists,” for some inspiration.

facebook tips for orthodontists

3. Video

Video is a big way to get your audience engaged on Facebook. Upload your videos onto Facebook: Videos uploaded onto Facebook have, on average, 110 percent higher engagement rate and 478 percent higher share rate than YouTube links.

Video is a perfect way to engage your followers through announcing events, contest winners, creating a demonstration or simply showcasing some smiles. Jernigan Orthodontics uses Facebook video to show a behind the scenes of their office, showcasing their fun team.

Bunn Orthodontic Group has used video in the past to announce contest winners, which has been effective in getting comments, shares and reactions, all leading to Facebook to rank them higher, among news feeds.

Social media is integrated into our daily lives and rapidly evolving. 69% of U.S. adults use at least one social media site. The chances that your target audience and ideal customer is on at least one social media platform is highly likely. Download selfie signs and a social media calendar of fun holidays for free here. This will help you stand above your competitors and help create new content for your social media platforms.

Montage: Cleaning Your Montage Board

Solutions By Design

Solutions by Design and the CDC Recommended Cleaning Montage Board Every Day.

In view of the evidence that transmission of many healthcare acquired pathogens (HAPs) is related to contamination of near-patient surfaces and equipment, the CDC recommends that all practices develop programs to optimize the thoroughness of high touch surface cleaning…this includes your Montage Board.

Good hand hygiene is the number one way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Solutions by Design asks that you encourage all patients to wash their hands with soap and water, and dry them thoroughly before and after using the Montage Board. Patients can also use alcohol-based hand rub if they don’t have immediate access to soap and water. We also ask that you designate a team member to clean Your Montage Board every day.

How to Properly and Safely Clean your Montage Display:
  • Always use a microfiber cloth to clean your Montage Touch Display.
  • Shut down your Montage Board.
  • Wipe the screen, applying very slight pressure, using straight wipes horizontally across the touch screen.
  • You can use gentle cleaning fluid designed for monitors, but it is best to use a spray bottle filled with equal parts distilled water and white vinegar. Additional disinfecting can be done with 32% isopropyl alcohol.
  • Always spray cleaning solutions onto a clean microfiber cloth. Do not spray cleaning solutions directly on your Montage touch Screen.
  • When you’re done wiping down your Montage board with your cleaning/disinfecting solution, wipe it again with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
  • Don’t turn on the device until the screen is dry.
  • While it may be tempting to reach for a bottle of Windex or some other general cleaning product, don’t! Harsh chemicals can wreak havoc on your Montage touch display.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Cleaning Your Montage Board
  • Do not use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia or abrasives to clean your montage board.
  • Do not use rough or hard cloths to wipe down on the touch screen.
  • Do not apply heavy pressure while wiping down the touch screen.
  • Do not spray cleaning/disinfecting solution directly on the touch screen.
  • Do not clean the touch screen when it is on.
  • Do make sure your touch screen is completely dry before turning your Montage Board back on.

If you have any questions regarding how you should safely and effectively clean your Montage Board, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
